Thanksgiving LOCKS of the Week: Part 5

It's time to give thanks, break out the Turkey and hope for some good football on the THANKSGIVING...

I've been looking forward to writing these picks all week. I have a really good feeling about all three teams in Week 12. What better way to feast on success than on Thanksgiving, the ultimate eating holiday this side of Independence Day! Here's what we have for Thanksgiving in the NFL:

In Detroit: I'm going Packers solidly to win and cover -6.5. While the game is on the road, and while the Packers struggle defensively lately, I think that's a pretty small point spread for a team that is magnificent at scoring points. It's Rodgers, it's Jones, it could be Jennings, and more. While Stafford, Johnson, and Smith may be a good counter, I also think the Packers eat the Lions alive. Pack -6.5.

In Dallas: We've often struggled with this game with the results being less than stellar, but in recent years we've seen some pretty good games in Texas. I would give the Dolphins a fair shot, but overall I think the Cowboys STILL cover the spread of -7. Dallas in a semi-close one.

Finally, in Baltimore: the Crab city hosts the hotter than fire 49ers with an old defense that's still going strong. The Ravens' Joe Flacco is erratic but is also facing some breaks: He's playing at home, he's going against a team that's traveled a long way on short rest, and he's got the momentum of having beaten Cincinnati the week before. I like the Ravens to win outright and give the -3.

To the picks!!

To the Meadowlands first... oh baby I've been waiting all week for this. The Giants are seeking blood and revenge for their loss in Cleveland. The 49ers are toast. The Giants (-10.5) will find their groove back. Give the points to the Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-men and see them knock the EUREKA out of the Niners.

To Arrowhead Stadium next... Kan-sas City baby! You know... I'm wondering if the Titans are going to drop the ball on the road... ah let's just take the points and give KC (+8.0) the cover. No idea why, It's late and I'm tired. If this really happens, I'll be dancing on Haley Street!

To HOUSTON last! A big contribution to 0-fer watch was that great Texans/Dolphins game last week. What will the Texans do for an encore? Well let me tell you, both teams have HORRIBLE turnover ratios and pt. differentials. These teams are evenly matched. How in the hell is Houston favored by 9? That's ridiculous. Lions cover (+9.0), easy.

...and now time for Dave's next Weekly Pizza Pick!

Look at all those shivering people! What are they doing? They're having pizza at good ol' Pizzeria Delfina, located at 3611 18th St. in the San Francisco Mission District. This place does pizza the old fashioned way, with a nice lil' oven to pipe them out. In honor of the big Eagles/49ers game, I recommend a pizzeria that SCREAMS "SF!" This is it! Take a gander at their website, doesn't it feel San Fran to you?

Besides all that, they have a reputation for great pizza. Plus, it's not overly expensive. California Pizza Kitchen, move over!

NFL Week 2 Brings the Excitement!

Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a good NFL Sunday.

It was a terrific day for football, filled with many close finishes, great plays, and shining moments. I was at Zodos, the only place to be for NFL football (if they knew how to turn on the HD). Anyway, here's my other thoughts on Week 2:

Aaron Rodgers: Like Musicals to My Ears!

Some folks weren't convinced Rodgers could take his good QB skills on the road. Instead, Rodgers impressed everybody out in the Motor City. Over 300 yards passing and 3 touchdown passes! I was impressed, and apparently, so were many fantasy owners.


The Greatest Week 2 Game Ever Played

There may be several candidates to earn the title "Greatest Week 2 Game". Unfortunately, Steelers/Browns is nowhere near the list. That game was kind of sloppy.

Instead, there was a battle of defensive wills over in Minneapolis between the Vikes and Colts.

There was also a terrific show in our nation's capital, perhaps a coming of age for young Jason Campbell.

Let's not forget the "Battle in Seattle" where you *can* get a second chance in life, or in overtime. SF's Joe Nedney misses the game winning field goal in regulation, only to nail it in OT, from the same distance!

Finally, the big shootout in Denver, where the Chargers and Broncos combined to score 77 points. Whoof!


Same Old Patriots

I still get the impression that the Jets are vastly overrated. It's tough to win games with only ten points in normal weather, and the Jets seemed more like a 4-12 team today. The Patriots do what they always do, win games, albeit much uglier and tougher than normal. The Pats have that 9-7 look without a doubt.

Still to come on Brothers and Sisters Week: the big Monday Night game between the Eagles and Cowboys. It may not amount to much in the end, but this week it will be a lot of fun. I'm looking forawrd to the result, and let's hope we get a better game than we got in Cleveland!
