Dave's Thoughts of the Day: October 3rd

I'm sorry to disappoint everyone here today but it looks like today's entry will be pretty short.

There's a very exciting Divisional Showdown today between the A's and Rangers at Oakland.   Winner takes the AL West division, and the difference between going to the playoffs straight up and having to play the Friday play-in game is enormous!  It's hard not to root for the A's here, although imho I still think the Rangers are the best team in the AL.  Yes, even after all this!   Rangers should win this one today at the Coliseum.

Romney/Obama.  Well friends... I'm not that familiar with Romney but the papers, media, websites tell me this is a mismatch.  Akin to last night's Red Sox/Yankees game.

HOW did the Red Sox get this bad?  Oh my goodness!  This team is so terrible!!  The Nationals' AAA team could beat the Red Sox right now.  It is awful.   I'll say no more, lest I want to rub it in.

Dodgers -- it's official.  O.K., I will say this:  The Dodgers showed much more heart in the last week than I expected.  They got much closer to a playoff berth than I would have thought.  For a fleeting moment, the Dodgers were a mere 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot.  For many fans, this was a step towards an exciting dream.   Ah, but it was not meant to be.

The Dodgers have a lot of questions to ask of themselves this Winter, but I do propose a few things:  Keep Kemp, Ethier, Ramirez, Gonzalez, and Cruz, and the pitching staff.  Everyone else, do what you gotta do, but all other spots on the roster need an upgrade.  Hopefully the Dodgers don't go after any aging vets as Ned Colletti loves to do.  It shall be an interesting offseason.

And..

In a month... LAKERS SEASON!  Lakers... 70 wins?  59?  Hahahahahahahahahahaha... imagine how many people have given them an automatic bye into the playoffs?  I am not this foolish.  Depth is an issue.  Perimeter defense is an issue.  Age is a HUGE issue with Kobe, Nash, and MWP.   My official prediction?  I suppose 46 wins.  Maybe a little more, probably not much less than that.  The thing is, no matter how many wins they get, the Lakers are going to be really fun to watch.

I'm still very glad to have that Del Taco down the street from me.  Even though I knew it was inevitable, I was still feeling down about the Dodgers missing the playoffs.   Three years without a playoff berth.  The Angels have also gone three years without making the playoffs.  Yankee fans do NOT know how good they have it.

Ah, the Del Taco, so in any case, after the game I picked up some Deluxe Tacos, and they have their usual Tuesday 3 for $2.09 deal.  Great deal by the way, for which I added the 1/2 lb. Bean and Cheese Burrito.  They'll ask about the sauce, but to me there's only one:  red sauce, all the way.  It's not even that hot.

That's all I have, for now.  Hope all's well wherever you are.
