Drew Brees: Ode to a Touchdown Pass Record

Tonight in New Orleans, Drew Brees will attempt to throw a touchdown pass in his 48th straight start.  If he does it, he'll pass Johnny Unitas for the most games in a row with at least one touchdown pass.

He's playing the San Diego Chargers at home.  It's pretty much a given at this point that Brees will get the record.  Oh the path to a Touchdown record...

...it always starts with a dream.  To be an NFL QB.

...Brees started his meaningful career in Purdue.  They told him he wasn't tall enough or strong enough.

About a decade later, Brees continues to be one of the NFL All-time greats.  The best part of it all is that he doesn't rely on any singular standout receiver.  Instead, he spreads it out to many different persons.   Indeed, Brees is the ultimate team player.

When this moment occurs, it will be a great moment amidst a great amount of turmoil with the Saints.  For one night, however, it looks like the Saints and Brees will get pure bliss.

Just in case, Congratulations, Drew.   It was a long journey to the top but well earned.
